Nokia Networks named as a "Leader" in small cell equipment by Gartner
Independent analysis of completeness of vision and ability to execute
Espoo, Finland - Nokia Networks has been positioned by analyst firm Gartner in the "Leaders" quadrant of the "Magic Quadrant for Small Cell Equipment",* which evaluates vendors on completeness of vision and ability to execute.
Nokia Flexi Zone has full software and feature parity with Nokia Networks macro base stations and incorporates the same Smart Scheduler and HetNet interference management features for best-in-class performance. Flexi Zone provides an innovative "zone" architecture that enables capacity upgrades to an existing network without costly reconfiguration. Operators can build almost unlimited capacity and coverage to meet growing demand in outdoor urban areas and indoor locations.

Nokia Liquid Applications is a means for operators to offer added value services to their subscribers. An industry-first solution, Liquid Applications resides within the base station and provides ultra-low latency and high throughput as well as direct access to real-time radio network information that can be used to offer unique applications.

"Nokia Networks supports the industry's broadest small cells range as well as a highly competitive portfolio of small cell solutions," said Marc Rouanne, executive vice president, Mobile Broadband at Nokia Networks. "We have the right basis to rapidly build sales momentum with many deployments in live operator networks worldwide. For example, Zain KSA and Vodafone Group have selected Nokia Flexi Zone to provide additional capacity and coverage as well as boost mobile broadband subscriber performance where it is most needed. Vodafone New Zealand also recently chose our Flexi Lite small cells to complement its macro network.

"In September 2014, we further enhanced our Nokia Services for HetNets with a new cluster-based solution for small cell delivery that significantly reduces deployment time. We also introduced planning and optimization capabilities built on 3-D geolocation to help operators understand indoor traffic requirements floor by floor and thus provide more efficient indoor small cell deployments," Rouanne added.
