SAMSUNG’s Innovative New Square and Transparent Commercial Display Products Now Available in U.S. Market

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J., September 19, 2012 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, announced the availability of its innovative 1:1 ratio LED square display (UD22B) and transparent display (NL22B) solutions. The UD22B and NL22B provide business owners with solutions for creating entirely new types of promotional displays in retail, commercial and public locations. With the introduction of the UD22B and the NL22B, Samsung is accelerating its leadership in the commercial display market. Recent findings from the DisplaySearch Monthly Large Format Commercial Displays Report show that Samsung continues its number one market share position to lead the US in channel sales of larger size displays.

“Samsung is the driving force behind the commercial digital signage industry’s transition to LED-backlit technology and its continued innovation,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division. “We are committed to providing our customers with unique and creative display solutions that feature high picture quality, slim design and endless flexibility for installations that are only limited by their imagination. With the availability of our new square and transparent displays, we are offering even more choice to businesses looking to implement signage solutions that will help engage customers in creative new ways and drive the bottom line.”

UD22B Square Display
Providing an alternative to traditional rectangular displays, Samsung’s UD22B LED-backlit square display with a 1:1 screen ratio, supports unlimited configurations and opens up new potential for creating immersive visual experiences. With a 5.5 mm bezel-to-bezel measurement for seamless installation and digital loop out to produce a single image across up to 100 displays, Samsung’s 21.6” square display lets commercial users explore limitless possibilities as they design artistic video walls. Multiple displays can easily be connected to produce creative mosaics as well as cubic or other three-dimensional shaped displays. Without being limited by the installation space or shape, businesses can create more interactive point-of-sale and advertising displays that truly engage consumers.

Samsung’s UD22B square display uses energy efficient direct LED backlight technology which generates less heat to reduce power consumption by more than 30 percent in terms of wattage when compared to similar sized CCFL backlit display technology, lowering operating costs. The UD22B also conserves energy by adjusting brightness according to ambient light conditions and enables users to easily manage content using Samsung’s unique MagicInfo™ software solution.

Samsung’s First All-in-One Transparent Display
Samsung’s 22-inch transparent display (NL22B) is a new type of product, available as an all-in-one product showcase, launching a new era of creative display in digital retail design. The thin LCD panel on the front of the transparent display allows images and animations to dynamically interact with the merchandise inside the showcase while still enabling passers-by to view the product. The three remaining sides are made of protective tempered glass enclosed by a sleek metallic frame, giving the NL22B a high-end, premium appearance.

At a 15 percent transmittance rate, the NL22B is able to show the display message while providing high picture quality of the retail object being displayed. The all-in-one kit includes a built-in PC, speakers, LED back-lit bar and protective glass, making it remarkably simple for businesses to transform a regular consumer shopping environment into an immersive in-store experience. At InfoComm 2012, Samsung showcased its cooperative work with Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry with a display featuring its square and transparent displays.

In addition, Samsung is also announcing the availability of the following additional commercial display products in the U.S.:

  • H Series – an affordable LED display with a built-in TV tuner designed for moderate-use commercial applications where a consumer TV display may be needed in a commercial space such as a bar/restaurant, lobby or doctor’s office. It is ideal for customers looking to make the transition from CCFL, as it provides superior picture quality for a comparable price. The H Series has a two year onsite warranty and comes with a built-in RS232 port for basic display control functions and USB Media Player for easy content management.
  • ME65B/ME75B – The ME65B and ME75B expand Samsung’s LED leadership into larger size display options by offering a 65” and 75” class screen size, respectively. Both displays offer a lightweight display designed for commercial and retail customers looking to reduce energy spend and time and cost of installations. A narrow bezel of just 21.5mm allows users to focus more on content and its slim depth offers more available space for other uses. An optional interactive white board accessory is available with the ME65B model to enable simultaneous touch points.
